The Times of India

The Times of India is a leading daily broadcasting newspaper in India. It is owened and managed by Bennett, coleman & Co. Ltd. which is Shahu Jain family. The Times of India printed in 21 cities of India. The Times of India is not as big as The New York Times, but it was certified by Audit Bureau of Circulations as the world's largest selling English broadcasting newspaper. In India, there are many languages newpapers there, but my favorite one is The Times of India. Students love to read this paper improving their English language. People of India, I would say crazy about newspapers. I know my grandfather and my mother, if you give them a week old newspaper, they would read whole newspaper. They just love to know about the world and what's happing around it. My mother used to try to read this paper to improve her English.

Mahatma Gandhi

In the world, there are very few people who live for everybody, and Bapu was one of them. Bapu is the name of the great “Mahatma Gandhi” was given to him by the people because of his superior qualities. Mahatma Gandhi is called the father of the Indian Nation for his kindness, honesty, fearlessness, purity to support the people against the discrimination and slavery. Mahatma Gandhi can explain about his life which is divided into several parts and gives knowledge for his devotion for the people.
However, during Gandhi’s childhood, he was a timid boy. Gandhi was used to scare with ghost. One day, his servant Rambha told her to say Rama which is the god of Hindu religion and from that day Gandhi became a person who only scared with god. Gandhi was born on 2nd October 1869 in the Westside of the India at Porbandar in Gujarat. Gandhi was an excellent person and very nice human being; he got all the good manners through his father who was Diwan of Porbandar and Rajkot. During his stay in Rajkot, his father’s Parsee and Muslim friends often visited their house and discussed the good about their religions, a little boy, Gandhi who sat on a side of his father and heard these discussions. These debates created in him a real love for all religions. Also, Gandhi was just an ordinary person, but he came famous with his truthfulness which he leant from the story of the life King Harish Chandra, who lost his kingdom and suffered much for truth. During his midlife Gandhi leant a lot from the problems which he faced every path of his life through fortunately and unfortunately.

Colorado River

The Colorado River also know as Red river in the southwestern United States and Northwestern Maxico. Lake Powell is a reservoir on the Colorado River between Utah and Arizona. It is the larges man made lake behind Lake Mead, storing 24,322,000 acre feet of water when it full. It takes slightly longer to get to Lake Mead these days. That's because for the past few years, the largest man-made lake in the US has been shrinking. The colorado River Basin which streaches from Wyoming to Mexico is at the center of hotter climate changes in the Western United States. Since Global Warming, Rising temperatures have contributed to earlier snowmelts, and the basin has warmed more than any other area in the contiguous United States.
As a result, the volume of water in the basin is decreasing. The years 2000 to 2004 were the only five consecutive years in recorded history with water flow below average. Lake Powell, one of the basin's main reservoirs, is only 45 percent full.

I think we should all do something or act now because we are seeing this sign everywhere. I went to Maritine Aquarium, and I watched the movie Grand Canyon. It was about the colorado river that how the water decreasing day by day. I think goverment should do something about it before it's too late.

As you can see this white color on the mountain. You can see that water decreased in these pictures: May be it will dry soon.

Slow Poising of India

90,000 tons of pesticide are sprayed annually on India’s crops, making India one of the largest pesticide users and producers in the world. These pesticides arecontaining water, air, and food, taking devastating tolls on India’s health and killing 10,000 people each year. With each meal, Indians are consuming .5 mg of pesticides. Although this is less than a pinpoint, it is also 40 times what Americans consume. The deadly toxin Endosulfan, the farmers are using in the part of Kerala which can cause many affects on people like mental retardation, physical deformities, skin disease, paralysis, and overall deterioration. Endosulfan is banned in many parts of the world. Its use is permitted, it is mandatory that all water sources be covered during its spraying. This was not done in Kerala. As a result, many wells in the area became contaminated. Endosulfan also hangs onto plants long after it is sprayed. When it rains, the pesticide is washed into rivers and streams below, and the poor people who especially have to go to river to get the water for themselves drink that water and get sick. I think nobody seems to care about the public health. They have not reached to the main reason that why are there many people getting sick or die? I would say the biggest problem with India is "Corruption." If anybody raise there voice to say something, they mouth gets sealed by the money.

Derecho

Derecho is the spanish word means Straight. I was just on the yahoo page, and I found the video about this Derecho that might affect North America. Derecho is a kind of torando, it is a widespread and long lived tornado. Although these storms most commonly occur in North America, derechos can occur elsewhere in the world. These straight-line winds can exceed 100 mph (160 km/h) in these clusters and straight-line wind gusts of up to 200 mph (320 km/h) are possible in the most extreme cases. During May to August derechos are mostly found in the Ohio Valley, Upper Mississippi Valley and the Great Lakes region including southern Canada, mostly in Southwestern Ontario. Derechos have been known to occur in other parts of the world. One such event occurred on July 10, 2002 in Germany. A serial derecho killed eight people and injured 39 near Berlin. They have occurred in Argentina and South Africa as well. Derechos occur during warm months and often in places with cold winter climates, people who are most at risk are those involved in outdoor activities like camping, hiking, and etc. People who live in mobile homes are also at risk. I was so much curious about it. I wanted to share this information with you all.

The most sad day of my life

The most sad day of my life was when I lost my grandfather. He died with high blood pressure. Because of high blood pressure, the doctor's found many clots that he went into Coma. I was not with him when he got sick in the morning. He was remembering me, my sister and my mother. He was calling us each day atleast 10 to 15 times. Asking that we are okey because my father was not with us. I really miss him. When I was a child, I had lived three years with my grandparents. I still remember it, every morning he brought me to walk to show peacocks. The place my grandparents used to live in the morning, you can see many peapocks and monkeys. He had not said no to me foranything I liked, he bought me all. I call him NANA becasue that's way we call our mother's father "NANA." I miss you Nana, and you are my hero. I love you Nana .Whatever time I had spent with you, I will never forget it.

Spring Semester

I am feeling sad that this semester about to finish. I am going to miss everyone in my all classes. I really have had really good time this semester. I really like my professors because I think there are the best. Especially Prof. Robert and Prof. Jackson. I am really going to miss their classes. Prof. Robert, he is the best ESL professor I have ever had in my education life. He is so patient and calm. He gives enough time to do work, and the most important thing is he makes the work so spicy and interesting that I love to do some of the activities like blogs. I do like blogs because that way I can improve my writing. If he probably have given the journal writing to write by hand, I probably would not do it, but this one I love to download photoes, etc. I am going to miss Prof. Jackson because he is the best one in his field. He is a attroney. He is the bussiness law professor. He is so funny, he makes you laugh all the time during his class. He is also so easy that make taste so easy to understand. Sometimes he says funny cases of his court which make my day more joyful. I have never missed any classes yet because I especially go to take notes because whatever he asked in the quiz, it is most similarly from his notes. I will also miss my classmates. Thanks you all for making my semester memorable.

Britian's got talent

Britian's got talent is one of my favorite reality show. I have started watching it since last year when my manager showed me one of it clip on youtube. The clip of Signature. I told all my friends to watch this show. I watched this signature video many times with my friends, and all of them became fan of it. I think reality show sometimes work as a fuel because most of the time what happened that during our normal life we sometimes feel lack of confidence, and this reality shows work as fuel to restore our confidence back in our lives. One of my favorite 2009 video is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lp0IWv8QZY&feature=related. and the second one from last year is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaBsshIYT2w. I would suggest everyone to watch this. All these youtube clips are really really good and entertaining.

Stamford Town Center

Stamford Town Center is one of my favorite place for shopping. I went their yesterday with my cousin, sister and mother. We go for shopping every single day since my cousin came from India. We especially went their for his shopping. We went their by bus because I do not drive. I could go with my father, but he is not really patient about the shopping. He does not like when we take long time shopping. I think he needs to understand that women's shopping does take much time because we just can not get the item. I would like to try each thing. Well, I am kind of going off the topic. Let me come on the track, so yaa first we went to Macy's from there he purchased pair of sandal, his sunglasses and a purse for his mother. His mothe especially told me not to buy any other products except for his. She sent me a list of stuff which I have to get it for him. He told me that he wanted it because he wanted to buy a present for his mother for Mother's day and something for father. I could not say no to him. Then we went to Hallmark to buy a signing cards for his mother and father. I loved the cards. Since my sister did not have her lunch, she felt hungry, so we went to Italian Pizza Place where I ate tomato, spinich pizza, and everyone else got cheese pizza on the fourth floor at the mall. I really enjoyed it. We went to Rainblow too shop where I bought kitchen for my purse. We went to Nike to buy his shoes. I really enjoyed a day. I am going for shopping again soon. I really love shopping. It is just my favorite hobby.

Swine flu

Swine flu would have become a global epidemic if the health officials do not take fast decision to find a way. Swine flu have already killed approximately 81 Mexican. It also sprearded in California, Texas, and may be New York. In Mexico, Schools, Museums, etc are being closed becasue this is kind of virus that spread through by people's touch. The virus is a mixed of human, bird and swine influenza. People do not have immunity to stop this virus. Only thing I know is do not hug or kiss anyone, Stay away from the people who does coughing because this virus can spread rapidly through person to person. The outcomes of this virus are high fever, body ace and coughing. Please stay away from the crowd. Do not shake hand with the person who looks sick to you.

Earth Event

Earth Day

Wednesday, April 22, 2009; the student World Assembly club organized the second annual Earth day event at NCC. I am a part of this club. All of our club members had worked so hard to make that event. I felt happy that it went well. I reached NCC around 10 o' clock in the morning. I am Bepin organized the table with the help of Prof. Emigh. Around 11 o'clock, all the members of our club were there. The event started 11 a.m. as the flyers said. We all enjoyed asking quiz question to everyone. We handed a free Earth bags to everyone if they participate in the quiz. We all had planned if someone give two answers correct, we include those contestant into rafal. Prof. Emigh had bought some rafal gifts. The facination part was when the president signed the commitment of ACUPCC. The the important part of the event started which was the documentary by Leonardo DeCaprio, "The 11th Hour." I was amazed by the numbers those people in the documentary talked that we are living in a very difficult situation from where it's upto our activities to make enviroment more sustainable or not.

Memorable day

Today was a great day for me because I went for bowling with my sister and cousin who came from India last week. It was fun. I went for bowling after three and half years. I used to go with my friends when I was in India. After we done bowling, we took walk from Wall-mart to Barnes & Noble, that moment reminded me the day when I was living with my grand parents, and I used to go with my grand-father for walk. I missed him so much. I realized his means to my life after he left me. I miss you "Nana." I became the old person with silly jokes with my sister and cousins. We talked so much about India during our walk. Then, we went to Barnes & Noble to drink Starbuck coffee where we tried the Stuffed Pizza Preztel, which I had never eaten it before. It was delicious. We sat there and talked more. My sisters voice tone raised many times, and I had to tell her to slow it down. Then I got a call from my dad that he was around the area, so I told him to pick us up. When I came home, we watched a Indian Dance show together. It was a memorable day of my life.

Cricket

Cricket is a bat and ball team sport that is first documented played in southern England in the 16Th century. By the 18Th century, cricket had developed to the point where it had become the national sport of England. From the 19Th century, the England led this to most palaces. It started played in overseas in 19Th century. Today, the sport is played in more than 100 countries. It is estimated that more than two billion people watched the last Cricket world cup. It takes whole day to play. A cricket match is played on a cricket field at the centre of which is called pitch. The match is contested between two teams of eleven players each.
In cricket, on
e team batsman, try to score as many runs as possible without being out, while the other team bowlers and fielders, trying to dismiss the other team’s batsmen and limit any runs being scored. When the batting team has used all its available overs or has no remaining batsmen, the roles become reversed and it is now the fielding team’s turn to bat and to outscore the opposition.

In India, when this matches start, people spend whole day on it. Every where you go you see and hear the commentary. People are crazy about this sport, sometimes two groups fight in each other because of this sport. My favorite cricket team is Australia. I know it sounds strange, but I like Austrain cricketers more than Indian.

Today

Today I had a great day because I went to pick up my cousin from New Jearsey. He came to the United States first time with his classmate. He is going to stay with us for two weeks. I am so exicted. His name is Arham, and he is 12 years old. He is the son of my favorite aunt Nahid. He came here with the his seventy class fellows who went to NASA for some kind of training. He wanted to become an engineer. He is fond of everyone because he is the youngest one. I tell him everytime that your face seems to me a Bear. I once had called him by that name. I love him so much. I still remember the day he was born. I and my sister stayed with my aunt and him when he was born. We played with him one by one. I cried a lot when my aunt put him in boarding school where I can not see him or talked to him frequently. I think she made the right decision to put him in boarding because sometimes kids realize there responsibility after they get alone.
His school name is St.Peter which is the most expensive boarding school in Panchgani. I really like his school because it creates many events for students to explore. I watched his video in which he became a girl in drama. He looked so cute in girl outfit. He always participate in all the activities at school. His favorite sport is cricket, but he also know other sports too. I am going to miss him when he leaves.

Hrithik and Aishwriya

Hrithik Roshan is one of my favorite actor. I became fan of his when I saw his first movie "Kaho na Pyar hai" in 2000. It became superstar over night. His father directed that movie. He achieved many filmfare award for this film. Not only that, he is one of the best actor in Bollywood now. He also worked in many other popular and hit movies like Na tum jano na hum, Dhoom 2, Kkrish, Koi mil gaya, Mission Kashmir, Lakshya and many more. One of my favorite was Dhoom 2 and Kaho na pyar hai. The reason I am fan of his is because he is the best dancer in bollywood.

Many girls cried when he got married with Sussane Khan the daughter of Sanjay Khan who was once an actor. The story of Kaho na Pyar hai was facinating to me is becasue the story of the movie was similiar to his real life love story. When I watched his another movie Lakshya menans "Aim of your life" something that you want madly. I leant that if I really really want something, then I have to work hard to achieve it with trust in myself. I think that movie changed my views about myself.

Dhoom 2 is my most favorite movie because my favorite actress worked with him. Her name is Aishwirya rai Banchan. She also worked him in another movie after this one which was Jodha Akbar, and that one based on Akbar's and Jodha's life. I think Director and writers were trying to show people of India that long time ago people of different religions were getting married or may be tried to remined them about their great love story which people seemed forgotten it a while ago.

Shoplifters

I really do not know why people try to steal. I have seen many people in my store who steals some stuff every time from a bagel to DVD. I was working at the service desk once, and the guy around 40 to 45 came to me. He was on wheel chair. He came to returned some items like blank VCR tapes, DVD and etc. All items worth around eighty dollars, so I returned it. He did not even have the recipt of the product, so I called my manager. He approved it and gave him a store credit. He came back after couple of day with similiar products. Before he came to me I saw him taking some stuff from the selves, so I went to the security and explained that he comes all the time, and take stuff off from the selves and return back to the store. The security took him to the room, and they asked him a question. The strange part of this incident was his mother showed up at the service desk that where is his son? I called the manager, and they brought her to him. I was surprised when I knew that his mother knew what he was doing? I felt bad for them because the security called the cops, and cops took him. Nowdays, this stuff do not surprise me because daily I see people doing wrong.

Math test

Today, I was so exited about my math test of chapter 3 which was about long division and synthetic division, Vertical, Horizontal and Slant asymtotes. I had some confusions with few problems, so I brought them over to the Tutoring center. I waited there for almost half an hour, and I was about to leave, and someone came to help me. When I asked them a problem, he started to think, and he might concluded something and factored the first line. Then he stopped. when I saw that line I figured it out the entire problem, and he was still thinking. I told him that I got it. He was shocked by my answer. This is the third or fourth time that the tutor had problems figuring out. Last time when I went to the tutoring center, and I gave them a word problem, and they replied to me that they also had problems with word problems, and that test I got 83 points. I had never gotten less than 97 to 100 in my math, and I was so disappointed about it. Today, I felt so confident that I will get 100 out of 100 this time because I decided work more by my own than anyones help. I feel bad for some students who might get affected like me.

NCC also offers racitation sessions, but as forward as you go with your classes, these sessions timing decreasing. I can not attend this because the timing does not suit to my schedule otherwise there is no need for me to go to the Tutring Center.

My favorite fruit - Sitafal

My favorite fruit is Sitafal or sugar apple or custard apple. I really like everything which is made from Sitafal. My favorite dessert is Sitafal ice cream. Sitafal contains white custard pulp with many black seed in it. Sugar apple is found in Asia during winter time. Sitafal is good for Ayurveda (Herbal) too. People of my country use this for many things like as a medicine for health. Some people dry the fruit, and they make powder of the dry fruit. Then they make paste of it to put in the hair to kill lices. Many women use this as a hair wash. Moreover, it helps to heal wounds. Not only actual Sitafal, but bark decoction helps to stop diarrhea. Sitafal leaves are good for diabetes. If the patient take a bath in warm water with its leave, it can cure arthritis. There are many other medical uses of this plant. One tablespoon of this powder can cure stomach problems. I really like this fruit very much since my childhood. I had waited for every winter when I was in my country. I really miss Sitafal.

Navratri

Navratri is the Hindu festival of dance and worship. The word Navratri means nine nights in Sanskrit. This festival celebrated for worship of shakti(Durga and Paravati.) This festival usually celebrates in september, october or november. It depends on the movements of the planets. This festival celebrates at nights. The people of this culture celebrate this nine nights and ten days. Everyone celebrates this differently like in Western part of India, Navratri celebrates with the special kind of Garba dance. People put on so much jewelry and heavy clothes. This ritual starts every night nine o'clock to one or two or three o'clock. I really like this festival because I love dancing, and I want to learn all kinds of dances. I was fasinated by this festival since I was in middle school.

Funny

Today when I was coming from my work to home, I took the bus 41. I had waited so an hour to catch this bus because today is sunday. I slided my ten ride card in the fare slot and sat. I saw an old lady front of me, and she was talking to the girl besides me. The girl was going to Bridgeport, and the old lady was telling her that be careful the bridgeport area is not good. Anything can happen that may be somebody steal money from her, etc. The girl replied that she did not have any money, so no one can steal anything. The old lady said people can kill people for money, and that's why she learnt karate. When I heard that I felt laughing. The old lady said she had been learning karate for six years, and she got her black balt a week ago. I could not laugh because I did not want her to embaracced. I know it does not matter with age, but the way she said it most eveyone in the bus felt the same way as me. The girl was smiling too. She said first she got red, then green, and finally black. The old lady said she learnt because if anyone try to rape her she can do karate to protect herself. She said "do not think I am 66, I am strong." While she was saying this she looked at the driver. I really do not know why I felt strange. The whole conversation was so funny and hilarious. I came home, and I could not wait to tell my sister and mother about it. Sometimes people around us make are day memorable such TODAY.

Autorickshaw

Autorickshaw is my favorite vehicle because it does not have not windows on the side. It is risky, but it is fun. I really enjoy sitting in the Autorickshaw. Oh! I miss those days when I was riding in it. Autorichshaws is popular where traffic congestion is a problem. You only find this in the Asia or China. China Town in London also has these Autorickshaws. It runs on three wheels, it makes by metal body frame, and it has frame window front of driver to see. On the front seat, only driver can seat because there is only one seat available. In the back, only three people can seat; however, sometimes there are five people sit in this little rickshaws. Sometimes one more person seats with the driver in the front. People try to save money because drivers take less money, and driver can save his gas because he takes only some passengers whose going in the direction where auto driver goes. Drivers have fare meters in the rickshaw, but so many of them do not use it. They charge customer from their own, and passengers are smart too. Passengers do bargain before they sit in the auto.

My favorite Soap Jodi(Couple)

Kahin to hoga (There is going to be someone who made for you mean your life partner)
Some people of my country believe that there is someone special that God already made it for you, you just going to find him the right one. May be he or she around you, but you can not see it. Look properly, and you will find him or her. This jodi is my favorite jodi because when I was in India, I heard about them from my sister. I only watched one episode, and their chemisty were outstanding. They both had won many awards together. I was so disappointed when I heard that the soap they both were working on it, it was over. They both went on different directions. Everyone thought when they were together that they would get married. Well, they both might not made for each other.

My Inpiration

There are many people in our lives that somehow make a very powerful impression on us. Last semester, my reading writitng class required to read a novel which was The Street Lawyer. This book completely changed me because I did not really like reading before. Now, I think I probably have 25 to 30 novel at home. John Grisham is my favorite author because he writes mystery. John Grisham wrote 22 novels like A time to kill, The firm, the street lawyer, the chamber, the innocent man and the appeal, etc. He mostly writes fiction, but he had write one non-fiction story which was The Innocent Man. John Grisham is the second oldest of five siblings. He was born in Arkansas in the United States. His family moved to Mississippi in 1967. His father was a construction worker and a cotton farmer, and his mother was a homemaker. John was encouraged by his mother. He was a passionate reader, and he was influenced by John Steinbeck who was once a great writer. John received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1977 from Mississippi State University. After that, John Grisham got into the law school, and he received Jusis Doctor from the Mississipi of Law in 1981. For the duration of law school, John switched tax law to criminal and civil litigation. Before his graduation he started focsing on criminal and civil cases. He spent most of his time in court proceding. In 1983, he elected as a Democrat to the House of Representative where he served seven years. In 1984, the attorney became writer from the 12 year old girl rape case.
He started thinking about her father's emotion, and he sta
-rted to put his thoughts on the paper. It took him three years to write his first novel "A Time to Kill." This book rejected by many publishers, but ultimately Wynwood press bought the manuscript and printed 5000 copies of this book. After that, we all know. The day after he completed A Time to Kill, he started to write The Firm. John Grisham is my inspiration, that if you really want to do something, you just got a work hard on it to achieve your goals.

Sapna Babul ka Bidaai

Sapna Babul Ka Bidaai, it means Parents dream for their daughters farewell from their homes to their husbands. I never really liked soaps in any languages. I felt it is just a waste of time; however, I do not think this way anymore. My sister told me to watch one episode of this daily soap or serial. It was so much intersting that I watch it everyday now. The story of this serial is based on Indian society's opinion about the beauty that how they reject someone who is not pretty or not fair. They are two sisters in Bidaai. One named Sadhna and Ragini, they both have been facing the difficult situation where they are being compared to one another because Sadhna is fair and look pretty, but Ragini skin tone is dark. In Sapna Babul ka Bidaai parents tries to find a husband for Ragini, but everyone reject her because she is dark, and instead of her everyone wants Sadhna for their daughter-in-law. Sadhna got married with a guy who is mentally ill under some circumstances. Sadhna tried to convince her husband's brother Ranveer it he could get married with Ragini. He was returned from the United States with his girl friend that Sadhana found out later, and he rejected Ragini. Ragini was so upset that his father and mother are worried because of her. After certain time, Ranveer found out that his girl friend he came with, she loved his money not him. Ranveer left her. I saw the episode after that how he felt in love with Ragini on the phone where they both were talking on the phone, but they both did not know each other. Finally, they both found out, and there were lots of misunderstading between them. Then, there parents did not agree for their marriage. Finally, their parents agreed, and they both got married. I really enjoyed the wedding. Let me stop here, otherwise I will not stop.
